    Your Thoughts

As of now, I think that LinkedIN is a better way to get one's information out to future employers. The main reason is the ability to access LinkedIN. By putting one's name and profile on a social networking site rather than on an independent site, it makes it easier for the employer to find and explore that profile. That potential employer can also recruit from sites like LinkedIN, where if a potential employee only has a professional portfolio on an independent site, the employer has to go in search of someone who might be willing to entertain the idea of a new job.

I found that the site ResumUP.com was not very user friendly. This is a site run by Facebook and therefore should be easy to use, but everything was so slow and there was very little prompting as to what needs to be done next to create one's presence. Zerply.com was a little better in the user friendly category, but still not ideal. LinkedIN was the one I found to be the best visualy as well as easiest to set up. I also think LinkedIN will be more beneficial as more people and employers seem to be on LinkedIN. The other sites have people following them, but not nearly as many. I am currently looking for a job, so I am interested to see how all of these websites can help me out.

I think podcasting can be very useful in education. The teacher must be careful, however, to screen the content before giving the podcast to the class. It can be easy for the instructor to find a good series of podcasts and fall into the habit of having students listen to every episode, but when the podcast goes off topic, explains something differently than the instructor wants, or doesn't go deep enough into a topic, the instructor must be aware of this and make the corrections neccessary for that podcast. Poscasting is a great way to get information to students becuase most of the time it can be listened to on any electronic device and is ready when the student is. The student doesn't have to listen at a specific time, rather, they can listen when they have a free moment.  The articles presented in Moodle mention that many colleges and universities are giving their incoming freshmen ipods to be used for educational purposes. I don't think it is neccessary to hand out the devices because it seems that every person from the age of junior high, now has some sort of device that will play podcasts, either a phone, ipod, or computer. The article from the Fresno Bee quotes Scott Sailor as saying that professors need to start speaking the language of their students. I agree with that. How does an instructor expect to impart any piece of information to a student when they are speaking a language the student doesn't understand? It is important to teach the student in a way that they understand.

I chose this video because it gives an overview of what an Athletic Trainer does on a daily basis. So many times we as ATCs find ourselves explaining what we do as an ATC. This was a video put together by three athletic medicine students from Michigan.

When I watched the video that posted to this step about cloud computing, I had no idea what it was talking about. The only thing I could think of was the iCloud by Apple. When it was said that Google Docs is an example of Cloud computing, it made a lot more sense. I have used Google Docs in the past and have liked the function of it. In my undergrad career, Google Docs allowed me to start something on my laptop at home and continue it on a school desktop in the library. It is also beneficial when you want to have multiple writers contribute. Google Docs allows one to start a document, save it to docs, allow other contributers, then let

In the article by Baird and Fisher, they bring up the notion that todays generation of school age people are "always on" refering to always being connected to what is on the internet. I would have to agree with this statement. I am guilty of checking my email the minute it gets to me because it comes directly to my smart phone. When participating in an online schooling experience, it is hard to not be connected when we have comuters, tablets, and smart phones all around us. While I think this practice can be useful and helpful, I don't think that we as a society should be so connected to our

I have found Flickr easy to use so far. I am still exploring it, but think that if it is not overused, it can be a good tool. This picture was taken on my Honeymoon of a cool building in Downtown LA. We stayed there one night then went to San Diego for the rest o

After watching the second video, I now understand a little better how to use Twitter, but I am still confused on how this should help me professionally. I understand that I can retweet articles and the like, but I don't know what other items I would tweet that will help build my professional image.
